Lights, climate, action - Sky's 'Green Shoots' competition

Sky announces winner of short film competition Green Shoots.
WWF worked with Sky and its other partner, the Energy Saving Trust, to encourage members of the public to make short films (up to 60 seconds) about the environmental issues that really matter to them. A panel of expert judges, including WWF-UK Director of Communications Winnie De'Ath, decided in early February that the best short film is Going Green by Tony Moon. The winning entry will feature on Sky Movies Premier Close Up from Saturday the 23rd to Friday the 29th of February to a potential audience of over 8.6 million people. The winner will also receive a Dream Eco Eden Break prize package for two valued at £2,000 with the Eden Project in Cornwall.

The winning film and two runner up films Small Changes by Robert Ford and It May Help by Przemek Sobkowicz can be viewed at www.skycast.com/greenshoots, Sky's user-generated content site.

Dax Lovegrove, Head of Business and Industry Relations at WWF, said: "Now is the time to convert awareness of climate change into action and as WWF continues to work towards a low-carbon world, we look forward to inspiring stories from viewers and to a winning film."

Fiona Ball, Sky's Head of Environment, added: "Green Shoots is a fantastic opportunity for the public to get actively involved in sharing their passion for addressing climate change. This initiative provides a creative, fun and educational way to get people to think about climate change."

The 'Green Shoots' campaign forms part of Sky's The Bigger Picture, which demonstrates the company's ongoing commitment to the environment and the issues of climate change.
