To celebrate WWF Cymru's launch of the footprint calculator Melanie visited wwf.org.uk/calculator to take the eco-test, which then provided her with individual tailored steps to help reduce her footprint. She answered the lifestyle quiz questions and discovered how many planets her personal footprint measured.

Melanie who has a home in Monmouthshire, Wales has a footprint of 2.30 planets, below the UK average of 3.2 planets.

Melanie said: "It is alarming the rate at which our lifestyles are damaging the planet. We must shrink our footprint down to one planet resulting in us living in harmony with nature. WWF's online footprint calculator is a great way to help us all discover how we can lead greener lifestyle. Through making the right choices as individuals we can help protect our environment in Wales and around the world."

Melanie joins a line of other well known names in showing her support for the Welsh launch of WWF's footprint calculator. Terry Waite CBE, an Ambassador for WWF-UK visited WWF Cymru's stand at Llangollen International Eisteddfod to learn more about the footprint calculator, and so did Branwen Gwyn, Welsh television presenter and a talented musician, who completed the calculator. Her footprint measured at 2.57 planets. Other personalities who have supported and completed the calculator include Fearne Cotton and Sarah Beeny.

WWF Cymru also attended the Royal Welsh Show in Builth Wells last week where they are invited the public to come along to their stand to measure their own ecological footprint and to pick up a free copy of Wales' Pocket Green Guide. Click here to see photos from the show.
