Wedding gowns marry charity & fashion

Ladies are asked to take recycling to another level by donating their wedding dresses to help save the planet.
Bridal Re-Dress Ltd, the brainchild of Lisburn based Ruth Eyre-Pugh, is the first company in Ireland to specialise in trading second-hand wedding dresses with fifty per cent of profits going to charity under the gift aid scheme. The donor may nominate WWF Northern Ireland, the global environmental organisation, or another charity of their choice.

High quality gowns will be available at bargain prices and both the donor and buyer will benefit from the feel-good factor of giving to charity. Donors also have the option of claiming back forty per cent of the selling price of the gown or allowing all the money to go to charity.

"This idea started small. Originally I wanted to sell my own wedding gown and raise the maximum amount of money for WWF, the charity of my choice. It has grown considerably since then – from a simple fundraiser, to a long term project to raise a steady income for the charity. Similar to the long term project needed to save the planet," said Ruth Eyre-Pugh, Director, Bridal Re-Dress Ltd.

"Having dedicated volunteers like Ruth who invest considerable amounts of time and energy in fundraising projects such as Bridal Re-Dress, gives our charity a considerable boost. We are delighted that she has chosen WWF for this scheme and we are looking forward to seeing many Irish brides take advantage of it," said Jim Kitchen, Head of WWF Northern Ireland.
