Bank Holiday Monday at Ballinderry River
On 28 August 2006 WWF Northern Ireland and Ballinderry River Enhancement Association are hosting the Banks of the Ballinderry Fair, a celebration of the life and soul of the Ballinderry river, at Wellbrook Beetling Mill from 1pm – 5pm.
With a wide range of activities taking place there will be something to suit all age groups and tastes. Set off on a guided river-walk for an introduction to the plant and animal life of the Ballinderry river-bank. Design your own biodegradable art work at the crafts tent or take in a fly-tying or casting demonstration from our resident fishing experts. Join Sir Peregrine Coot, the intrepid explorer, on his discovery of wetland creatures. And as if all that is not enough, there will be a vintage car exhibit, duck races, and a chance to see the history of the beetling mill dramatically brought to life by a group of storytellers. There will also be a music tent where all musicians and singers are invited to join in the session! Bring along your instruments and your family and friends.
"This is the second year that we've run the Fair and it's going from strength to strength. All of the activities are very interactive and hands on so that visitors of all ages can take part," said Alex McGarel, freshwater policy officer, WWF Northern Ireland.
So with all this and more at the Banks of the Ballinderry Fair you really cannot afford to be anywhere else this Bank Holiday Monday. Come join us, bring along a picnic and step back in time to see the river at work.
Wellbrook Beetling Mill is four miles West of Cookstown, half a mile off the Cookstown-Omagh road (A505): from Cookstown turn right at Kildress Parish Church or follow Orritor Road (A53) to avoid the town centre. 20 Wellbrook Road, Corkhill, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, BT80 9RY.
