A gift in your Will

Making a Will is an important way to ensure your loved ones have a secure future. And leaving WWF-UK a gift in your Will is an excellent way to ensure the world they live in has a long and lasting future too.

How to leave a gift in your Will to WWF

There are several ways to leave a gift in your Will to WWF-UK:

Residual Gift
Bequeath the residue from your estate after all other bequests, costs etc, have been deducted.

Pecuniary Gift
Leave a specific sum or item.

A percentage of your Estate
Specify a gift of a percentage of the value of your estate. For example, a bequest of 5 per cent of an estate valued at £20,000, would provide a gift of £1,000.

Company Pensions
If you belong to a company pension scheme, you can complete an 'expression of wish' form to benefit WWF-UK or any other charity of your choice. In the event of your death, the stated proportion of the life insurance benefit will be paid to your chosen charities. The 'expression of wish' form notifies the pension fund trustees of your wishes and it is simple to do with no legal complications. However, not all company pension schemes are set up to do this so you will need to check with your employer.

Making a Will
Making a Will doesn't have to be costly or complicated. To help you understand all the issues involved in making a Will we've put together a booklet - Your Guide to Making and Updating a Will.

We also offer our supporters a Will-writing service at a special fixed rate through one of the legal advisors participating in our countrywide Legal Network. Supporters pay only £60 for a simple, uncomplicated Will and £80 for a couple's mirror Will. Our Legal Directory 2006 lists all the legal advisors participating in this scheme.

Changing your Will or adding WWF-UK to your Will
If you already have a Will, the simplest way to make relatively minor alterations or additions is by making a Codicil. This is an instruction that is kept with your existing Will and which your solicitor will help you draw up. Please let us know if you would like us to send you a Codicil form.

Let us know
Should you decide to leave a gift in your Will to us we would be grateful if you could let us know. Naturally, this will be treated in the strictest confidence and is not binding in any way.

As a thank you, WWF will dedicate a tree in your name - a lasting, living symbol of your personal commitment to conservation. Find out more about the tree dedication.
Inheritance tax
Any money left to your spouse or to charity is free from Inheritance Tax. Leaving a gift to a favoured charity in your Will not only helps a good cause but also normally reduces your Inheritance Tax liability, because any gifts to charities are deducted from the value of your estate prior to taxation.
