Lobby your MP

10 downing street

WWF often meets with MPs and Lords to campaign on issues relating to the environment. However, we cannot do this alone. We also rely on our members, campaigners and supporters to lobby their MPs to support our work in Parliament.

Your local Member of Parliament has a duty to represent his or her constituents in Parliament. MPs are  very happy to meet with constituents, as it gives them an idea of what concerns constituents have, and whether there are any issues that they can represent at a higher level. By writing to your MP, you can affect change at a political level.

There are a number of things that your MP could do for you:

  • write to senior civil servants;
  • raise public awareness by asking questions, making speeches in Parliament, hosting events and participating in debates;
  • make a personal appointment with the minister to discuss the issue in greater depth.
