We have secured our own start time slots this year for Team WWF:
- Crystal Palace in South London at 22:35
- Alexandra Palace in North London at 23:10
Can I join as part of a team at the same start point/time?We do accept teams but you will need to register separately and all agree on the same start place and start time.
What is the route?Nightrider is a circular route so you will start and finish at the same place. There are 2 start points – Alexandra Palace and Crystal Palace - and half of cyclists will set off from each place in an anti-clockwise direction around London.
The route takes in over 50 of London’s famous landmarks - for more information, take a look at the route map.
Break stops en-routeThere are the following break stops at roughly every 20km (subject to change):
- Potters Field Park near Tower Bridge
- Mile End Stadium
- Alexandra Palace (for those who start at Crystal Palace)
- Geraldine Mary Hamsworth Park at the Imperial War Museum
- Crystal Palace (for those who start at Alexandra Palace)
How hilly is the route? The ride is fairly flat and gentle, varying between 4 and 45 metres (14 and 150 feet) above sea level, with the exceptions of the climbs via Alexandra Palace to Whitestone Pond (London's highest point) in Hampstead, and to Crystal Palace.
Will I receive a route description and GPS details?A description of the route and details for GPS devices will be available to download in the Participant Area of the Nightrider website in early 2012. You can request free cycling maps of London from the ‘Cycling’ section of the TfL website or by calling 020 7222 1234. (Maps 4, 7, 11 and 14 cover the whole route. Map 1 of central London is also useful).
How will I find my way?The route is fully signposted and where this is not possible (short sections of the route) there will be marshals marking the junctions.
What if I get lost? The route is fully signposted - but in the unlikely event that you get lost there is a central control number to call where staff can quickly direct you back to the route.
If you have any more questions specific to the challenge, check the Nightrider website or call the Nightrider Team on 0207 619 0066.
