Jim Lambie - Pandamonium 1
Jim Lambie
Sweet Bamboo
Panda, concrete
H 100 x L 50 x W 50 cm
Lot no: 8
Jim Lambie chose to part-submerge his panda in a solid block of concrete, preserving a portion of it like a fossil embedded in the rocks and leaving the mother and baby pandas’ heads exposed to the elements. The way the pandas are disappearing into the mass of concrete visually highlights the desperate situation we face with our environment: that species are being eliminated before our very eyes and it may be irreversible unless we take action – fast.
Estimated value: £15,000 - £20,000
