FAQs
Why a fixed donation period?
Why £10 a month?
How will your investment be used?
Will our plans work?
Why a fixed donation period?
The next three years are critical for both of these habitats. Unless we intervene now, the problems each faces will be compounded and it might be too late. More will be lost and more investment will be needed to save these regions from destruction and their animals from extinction.
Why £10 a month?
Like much of our work, these programmes involve large-scale international activity and each needs extra funding of £240,000 a year. So if each person gives £10 a month, we will only need 2,000 investors to reach our goal – and those that do donate will, we hope, really feel part of something special.
How will your investment be used?
Your backing of £10 a month will be used in a number of different areas, from supporting our on-the-ground scientists to lobbying national governments. We'll update you twice a year so you can see how your chosen project is developing, sharing both the very latest data and fascinating first-hand experiences from our experts in the field. At the end of the three years we will send you a report about everything your investment has helped us to achieve.
Will our plans work?
We know our plans work! WWF is the world's largest and most experienced independent conservation organisation, and we know our two programmes will make a difference. WWF is active in over 90 countries, combining cutting edge conservation and field research with successful political lobbying. In the Arctic, we are working in the Barents Sea, which is home to a diverse range of wildlife. Our campaign work has already led to a moratorium on oil drilling outside the Norwegian Islands of Lofoten and Vesteralen, to protect these important areas from pollution and oil spills. We must ensure this moratorium is extended when it's reviewed in just three years time.
In Borneo, the World Bank predicts that all lowland forest could be lost in the next three years. We have already managed to stop a 1.8 million hectare (half the size of the Netherlands) palm oil plantation being developed through the Heart of Borneo - and we proposed it should be planted on derelict land instead. Our plans work; all we need is for you to back us.
Please start investing in the future today. Your support is needed urgently.
