WWF-UK announces new Chair
Thursday 3 April 2008
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Ed Smith as our new Chair to succeed Christopher Ward when he retires in June.
Ed comes to us from a highly successful business career with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) both in the UK and globally, and now holds a number of Board level roles in higher education and leading research organisations.
Ed's appointment follows an open and extensive recruitment process headed by a professional recruitment firm, which included an advertisement for the post of Chair in the Sunday Times and a very competitive shortlist of candidates.
Ed Smith said: "This appointment is indeed a rare privilege. WWF is working with others at the apex of world changing issues which must be tackled here and now rather than put off for future generations when it will be too late. I am greatly looking forward to working with David Nussbaum, the team and fellow Trustee colleagues as part of the WWF global network to press home the scale of change needed for all of us as individuals, in business and in governments."
David Nussbaum, Chief Executive of WWF said: "Ed brings together a great set of skills and experience that will help guide WWF over the coming years to deal with some of the world's most challenging environmental problems, and I look forward to working with him."
