- Threats: Climate change

"Climate change is happening now and the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is unequivocal about the fact that it is caused by people", says Hans Verolme, Director Global Climate Change Programme, WWF
Our energy intensive lifestyles are fuelled by the burning of fossil fuels, which produces CO2, a key contributor to climate change. With global average temperatures predicted to rise between 1.1°C and 6.4°C over the next 100 years, the effects will hit both humans and other species. Polar bears could become extinct by the end of this century as temperatures rise and the sea ice melts for longer periods. Millions of people may also be forced to abandon their coastal homes as sea levels rise.

"...it's certainly about sustainable communities; I think it's cultural - it's almost artistic. I don't think there's any aspect of our daily lives that one planet living doesn't touch."
