• Progress so far on Heathrow

WWF-UK has been supporting campaigns that challenge the proposed new third runway at Heathrow. Last February a considerable number of our WWF online campaigners responded to our call to action and signed the stop Heathrow expansion petition.

And the pressure is mounting:

  • There have been 18,000 responses to the Heathrow consultation, largely negative.
  • Westminster Hall was filled with thousands of concerned individuals for a rally on 25 February – the energy was fantastic!
  • The London Mayor, the GLA, Liberal Democrats and many MPs from all parties have pledged their opposition.
  • There have been two high profile stunts, one at Heathrow and the other on the Houses of Parliament, drawing the attention of the press and the public's imagination to the issue.
  • The Camp for Climate Action, which spent a week at Heathrow in 2007, has pledged to return this August.

Join the carnival against Heathrow expansion, which is to be held on 31 May 2008 at Heathrow.

As the momentum builds, it will become increasingly difficult for the government to ignore the many voices opposed to expansion.

Make yours heard by signing the petition.
