Wildlife and the energy we use
We all use energy every day – to heat and light our homes, cook our food, and get about. But we also use energy in more 'hidden' ways – in the products we buy that are manufactured and transported from far away. This energy use relies on the burning of fossil fuel, which most scientists now agree is changing our climate faster than species and habitats can adapt. The magnificent polar bear is a prime example – threatened with extinction within 100 years if changes to our climate continue.
Everything we buy has an 'energy use cost', and contributes to what some have labelled the biggest environmental challenge of our time. We need to buy and use less, and make smarter shopping choices that reduce our contribution to climate change. This session helps us to understand why and how.
