Wildlife and the food we eat

Consider these facts: The UK food chain could account for more that one-fifth of the total UK greenhouse gas emissions. One in 10 products on our supermarket shelves contain palm oil, in products ranging from toothpaste to biscuts. Orang-utans are facing extinction within 12-15 years due to deforestation and expanding agriculture – much of it linked to the high demand for palm oil. This session will help you to explore these links, consider what influences what we eat, and make better, more informed food shopping choices for the benefit of wildlife, habitats and people
