OMSH housebuilder sustainability toolkit
WWF has created an extensive Housebuilder Sustainability Toolkit, sponsored by asset manager Insight Investment, to provide clear guidance for housebuilders seeking to address a wide range of sustainability issues. The toolkit, compiled by Upstream (a strategic sustainability consultancy specialising in the built environment) tackles a variety of concerns including climate change, community involvement, the sustainable use of materials, and waste. It is available free of charge.
Use the headings below or the A-Z to navigate the toolkit.
1 Governance and strategy
2 Impact on the environment
3 Impact on society
This toolkit can also be used alongside associated tools such as the Regional Sustainability Checklist to assist developers in the creation of sustainable homes and communities. Such tools can be accessed directly from this site.
The toolkit is based upon the criteria contained within the One Million Sustainable Homes house-builders benchmarking assessment, Investing in Sustainability, performance and progress among the UK's leading house-builders revisited, which rated the progress and performance of the UK's leading listed house-builders in addressing sustainability.
The toolkit signposts useful sources of information that can be used by house-builders to inform their general approach to sustainability issues, as well as providing specific guidance for each of the benchmarking criteria.
