WWF Walk for Wildlife
The Walk for Wildlife has been a long-running and popular event for WWF, with the most recent Walk raising a total of £194,361 for WWF's work in the Eastern Himalayas. However, the income from this event has been falling considerably from year to year, and unfortunately it is now no longer a viable fundraising event.
As a charity we are accountable to the public for use of public spending. Due to the drop of income we feel that the walk is no longer a good use of these funds in terms of return on investment. A great deal of money and time has been put into the Walk by the WWF team and our loyal volunteer network in the past, but it has not generated the return on investment that other forms of fundraising generate.
However, if you are a keen walker, there is no reason why you still can't organise your own local sponsored walk! We would be delighted if you were to do so, but unfortunately we won't be able to provide a dedicated walk website or walk branded material for your event.
WWF would like to say a big thank you to everyone who has participated in Walk for Wildlife in the past.
Big Swim
This sponsored swim took place every May from the early 1990s until 2004, raising thousands of pounds for WWF's vital marine work and the conservation of endangered species such as dolphins, whales and turtles. Unfortunately the income raised by this event began to fall in the later years, and it could no longer be continued as a viable fundraising event.
Great North and Great South Runs
WWF supported runners in the Great North and Great South runs from the late 1990s until 2004. However, the administration costs involved in buying places in the runs and supporting our runners on the day proved to outweigh the income generated, and we were forced to admit that we could not continue to support runners participating in these two running events.
