Why we're working with businesses
Working with business is a great way for us to achieve positive change for the planet. It’s clear that ‘business as usual’ is unsustainable – whether because of overuse of natural resources, damage to forests, rivers or seas, or carbon pollution feeding climate change. Things have to change.
And most businesses know this themselves. They know their own futures are at stake too. A lot of companies have already made big, positive advances, while others are unsure about how to go about it.
That’s where we can help. And it’s why we don’t just work with companies who are already doing everything ‘right’. Sometimes the biggest changes can come about by forming challenging relationships and creating constructive solutions together.
We see working with business as an exciting opportunity to deliver large-scale, long-lasting environmental and social benefits.
How we work with business
The way we work varies. Sometimes we form or join multi-partner networks where companies can discuss and share insights into the best ways to achieve sustainable growth (for instance our Global Forest & Trade Network). Combining voices like this can have a powerful impact at a global level too.
We also work with individual companies to help them find better ways of doing business that don’t harm the planet – or to help develop what they’re already doing. We can help them motivate and inspire their staff, customers, consumers and policy makers on vital environmental issues.
We bring our experience and on-the-ground technical expertise, as well as our brand strength and global geographical presence. We can help businesses become more sustainable, more appealing to investors and buyers, and better for the future of the planet as a whole.
