The Hon James Buxton

The Hon James Buxton is the son of Lord Buxton, one of WWF's distinguished founders. After attending Ampleforth College in York, James went to the Royal Agricultural College in Cirencester. He achieved a Diploma in Rural Estate Management and was winner of the Scammell Award.

He joined Bidwells Property Consultants, Cambridge in 1978 and in 1980 attained his RICS (Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors) qualification. He worked in the firm's Farm Agency Department for five years, during which time he was appointed an Associate Partner and started the firm's Planning and Development department. He has been involved in a number of landmark development projects throughout the Eastern Region.

In 1988 he was appointed an Equity Partner and established the firm's Residential Agency, which is now one of the leading agencies at the top end of the market within the Eastern Region. He also established the firm's Suffolk Regional Office in 1991. He was elected Senior Partner of Bidwells in 2000, a position which he still holds.

James was a member of the Suffolk Committee for the Rural Development Commission, Chairman of Governors of Riddlesworth Hall School (1998-2000) and Chairman of the CBI East of England. He is a Member of the Advisory Board, Department of Land Economy, Cambridge University, a Trustee of the Buxton Conservation Trust, and a Deputy Lieutenant of Cambridgeshire.

His interests include painting, country sports and vintage motorcars. He is married with 3 children.
