Lewis Gordon Pugh

Lewis grew up in England and South Africa. He read law and politics at the University of Cape Town and Jesus College, Cambridge before practising maritime law in the City of London for a number of years.

Lewis was the first person to complete a long-distance swim in every ocean of the world, and over a period of 20 years he has pioneered more long-distance swims around famous landmarks than any other swimmer in history.

In 2007 he attracted worldwide media attention by becoming the first person to undertake a long-distance swim at the Geographic North Pole. He undertook the swim to raise awareness of the devastating effects of climate change in the Arctic.

Lewis lives in London and the Norwegian Arctic.
