The effects of climate change are already being felt among poor communities in Africa – often those least responsible for the carbon emissions that cause global warming. These communities rarely get a chance to put their case, but WWF and DFID are working together to give them an international voice, and demand urgent positive action.

WWF, with the support of the UK government department for international development (DFID), is working to help the people and governments in coastal East Africa to adapt to the impacts of climate change:

  • helping design projects to maximise the resilience of the natural environment;
  • working with poor rural communities to reduce vulnerability;
  • working with partners on natural resource management to reverse or minimise impacts.
