Tetra Pak

WWF and Tetra Pak have a long-standing partnership in many countries across the world. Globally, since 2006, we have worked together on issues where we have a common agenda – responsible forestry and climate change.

Tetra Pak is a member of two WWF initiatives – the Global Forest & Trade Network (GFTN) and Climate Savers.

  • Tetra Pak has been a member of WWF’s Climate Savers Programme since February 2006. In 2010 the company achieved its global climate goal for operations by reaching an absolute cut in carbon emissions of 12.9% (compared with 2005) while increasing production by more than 23% over the five years. Tetra Pak set a new climate goal in 2011: to cap greenhouse gas emissions along the value chain at 2010 levels by 2020, regardless of growth.

  • Tetra Pak is also a member of the WWF Global Forest &Trade Network (GFTN) in the UK, US and Sweden.
In April 2010, WWF-UK and Tetra Pak UK launched a new three-year partnership to educate the public about the importance of renewability and responsible forest management, as well as funding a sustainable forest conservation project in the Russian Caucasus.

What we're doing

Through the partnership, we are:

  • encouraging consumers to think about the environment when making purchasing decisions;
  • increasing awareness of the benefits of choosing renewable wood and paper-based materials, such as cartons;
  • educating people about the importance of responsible forest management; and
  • raising vital funds for forest conservation and responsible forest management.

Why we're doing it

Rupert Maitland-Titterton, Tetra Pak UK’s director of environment and communications, says:

“Our partnership with WWF aims to help people understand what ‘renewable’ means, why it matters, and how they really can make a difference.”
