Climate Chaos
06/01/09
Basking in the success of achieving a strong Climate Change Act, the Government was well poised last month to be effective and influential in both the EU and International climate negotiations. Ed Miliband our new Climate minister was making his first statements on an international platform. So WWF was bitterly disappointed that after months of successful lobbying within Britain, our influence in Europe and internationally has had less impact. And the UK Government has been unable to show the ... read more about 'Climate Chaos'

Queen delivers a royal wave
03/12/08
WWF achieved huge successes during the 2007-8 session of Parliament.  Four bills that we were lobbying on will be significantly better for the environment thanks to our political campaigning. The Climate Change Act, the Planning Act, the Housing and Regeneration Act and the Energy Act are now laws and will help to drive down our greenhouse gas emissions. Obama's environmental hopes
05/11/08
So, Barack Obama has won. We know he is the first black President of the United States, that British politicians are fighting to claim kinship, and that the world has welcomed him as a breath of fresh air in the White House. As President, the decisions he takes in Washington will have a profound effect all around the world, and given his stellar popularity in the UK (one poll found that Brits supported Obama over McCain by more than a six-to-one margin), may also contribute to our own domestic ... read more about 'Obama's environmental hopes'

What is your table made of?
22/10/08
It may not have got much attention in the media recently, but illegal logging remains a grave threat to the Earth’s ecosystems, and is the focus of one of our major campaigns. Not only does it threaten many of the endangered species WWF works with, but deforestation and forest degradation are also responsible for roughly 20% of global greenhouse gas emissions. The Public Affairs team are involved in a major lobbying effort on the issue in Westminster and Brussels. ... read more about 'What is your table made of?'
