Putting on a performance

OSOW premiere, Royal Albert Hall

Feeling inspired!

This page is where you can begin your journey and find answers to your questions on how to put on a 50th Anniversary celebratory performance of One Sun One World, which best suits your organisation and its resources.

This page will work a little like a blog - in that advice, helpful hints and creative suggestions will be added to on a regular basis. Organisations who have already performed the work, with or without connected programme of creative workshops and cross curricular activities in schools, will be asked if they would like to contribute a paragraph mentioning anything they feel might be useful throughout planning stages.

WWF hopes you will be able to find any information you need to support you in becoming one of the 50 performances in 2011 which will form part of WWF’s 50th Anniversary celebrations.

A little bit of background

One Sun One World was specially commissioned from Peter Rose and Anne Conlon to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of WWF. It speaks with the powerful voice of the performing arts to carry some of the important messages so vital to the sustainability of our wonderful world.

The world premiere

One Sun One World was premiered at the Royal Albert Hall in October 2010 and featured a collaboration between WWF, The English Chamber Orchestra, The Royal College of Music, The Royal Albert Hall and The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

Thoughts from Ben Buckton, 1st violin, English Chamber Orchestra

Ben Buckton is a 1st violin in the English Chamber Orchestra 1st and he was leader of the collaborative One Sun One World orchestra for the world premiere, which featured ECO musicians sitting alongside musicians from the Royal College of Music.

Thoughts from Marilyn Groves, Eco Creative Project Leader

ECO’s creative music and drama workshops were delivered by a team of professional musicians and actors from the English Chamber Orchestra, led by Marilyn and most ably supported by students from the Royal College of Music.
