Art
Every year in the school are involved in art projects associated with One Sun One World:
- Year 6: Clay models of endangered animals in their habitats.
- Year 5: Papier mache models of birds.
- Year 4: Collages and group paintings of endangered animals; rainforest paintings.
- Year 3: Paintings and /or pastels of hot and cold habitats
- Year 2: African wildlife masks and animal print repeated patterns
- Year 1: Illustrated world animal alphabet; story boxes re a frog searching for its natural habitat.
- Year R and N: Models of endangered animals to create ‘It’s a Small One World’.
Singing
The school choir is preparing a small production of One Sun One World to perform to the children and parents at school.
Music and Drama workshops
Year 2 participated in a drama / music workshop about saving the rainforests etc from human interference, and the story of the cacao plant. This was performed to parents.
Literacy
What each of the grades are doing:
Year 6: Poetry about endangered animals and the effects of pollution.
Year 5 and 6: Participating in One Sun One World writing challenge.
Year 4: Writing persuasive leaflets to save animals' natural habitats.
Years R, 2 and 4 participating in storytelling sessions that relate to animals and the threats to their habitats.
