Anna Friel

Anna’s latest role sees her as the lead in Starz’s critically acclaimed ‘The Girlfriend Experience’, alongside Louisa Krause and Carmen Ejogo. This comes hot off the heels of her International EMMY Award win for Hans Rosenfeldt’s drama ‘Marcella,’ for which she has just finished filming the second series. Before this, Anna shot movies ‘Tomato Red’, directed by Oscar nominated Juanita Wilson, and ‘I.T.’ alongside Pierce Brosnan.

London-based Anna can also been in Peter Horton’s ‘American Odyssey’ for NBC which aired BBC2 and is currently on NETFLIX, as well as ‘Good People’ opposite James Franco and Kate Hudson. Most recently, Anna starred BBC’s original drama series ‘Broken’ opposite Sean Bean, for which she received Series Mania’s prestigious Best Actor Award in the International Section.

New upcoming releases include quirky US ghost comedy ‘Master Cleanse’ opposite Johnny Galecki and Anjelica Huston, as well as gritty UK feature ‘Urban’ based on Bernard Hare’s bestselling book of the same name.

Other recent notable work includes Showtime pilot ‘The Vatican’ for director Ridley Scott and Michael Winterbottom’s ‘The Look of Love’, in which she stars alongside Steve Coogan as the wife of infamous British billionaire Paul Raymond. She stole the notices for Christopher Hampton’s critically acclaimed adaptation of ‘Uncle Vanya’ on London’s West End in 2014, and managed to fit in ‘The Pavement Psychiatrist’ with Idris Elba for Sky Arts.

In 2012, Anna graced the UK small screen as grief stricken widow Ellie Manning in the harrowing 3-part thriller ‘Without You’ from ‘Prime Suspect’ team Sally Head Productions and Downton Abbey producer Nigel Marchant; She also starred in the hard-hitting 2 hour probation service drama from BAFTA winning writer Tony Marchant and EMMY winning director Dearbhla Walsh 'Public Enemies', alongside her 'The Street' co-star Daniel Mays. This followed her role in Sky Movies fantasy drama 'Neverland', as hard-nosed Pirate Queen Elizabeth Bonny alongside Rhys Ifans, Bob Hoskins and Keira Knightley.

Next year, Anna will be seen in ITV’s ‘Butterfly’, for which she also serves as producers. Once again collaborating with BAFTA winner Tony Marchant, she plays the mother of a young boy who wishes to transition to a girl.
