About the awards

We are delighted to announce that our annual Green Ambassador Awards are back for 2018. This year we are searching for the UK’s top green teams and teachers within primary schools. We would like to shine the light on green teams and teachers who are championing environmental and sustainability issues within their School. We will be looking to award winners from each UK country.

The awards are now closed and we look forward to announcing the winners in June.

Green Team Award

For the Green Ambassador Team award, we’d like you to describe the role pupil teams play in planning and delivering creative environmental and sustainability projects in your school. We’ll be looking for evidence of genuine team working, and how the team engages the whole school and the wider community. We’d like to hear what difference pupils feel they’ve made to the environment and how the Green Ambassadors scheme has helped them.

All entries must be submitted either online or on the template provided. The submission text should be no more than 500 words in length, and must specifically address the key criteria set out. You can support your entry with any evidence of the work you have achieved, sadly we cannot return any evidence.

These awards have now closed and we will be contacting the shortlisted school green teams very soon!

Teacher Award

For the Green Ambassador Teacher awards we’d like to hear how your nominee has explored environmental and sustainability issues in the classroom and through real life projects at school, as well as how the Green Ambassadors scheme has helped them. We’ll be looking for evidence of how your nominee has supported pupils to develop key skills such as team working, problem solving and critical thinking. We’d also like to hear how they have promoted a leadership role for pupils on sustainability and what contribution they’ve made towards a whole school approach to sustainability.

All entries must be submitted either online or on the template provided. The submission text should be no more than 500 words in length, and must specifically address the key criteria set out. You can support your entry with any evidence of the work you have achieved, sadly we cannot return any evidence. Please read our terms and conditions.

Sustainable Schools Award

We and Tes are looking for a school on a sustainability mission, with a passionate commitment to helping pupils develop as environmental citizens and green ambassadors for our planet.

The winning school will have raised the bar when it comes to a whole-school approach to sustainability, finding innovative approaches to exploring a range of issues across all aspects of school life. Whether schools are working on eliminating waste, investigating sustainable designs, growing food or attracting biodiversity in the school grounds, we’ll look for evidence of how pupils are encouraged to develop skills such as working together, critical thinking, holistic thinking and problem-solving. And we’ll want to see how pupils are enabled to put their learning into action, ensuring there are opportunities for pupil voice and pupil-led activity, with opportunities to engage with parents and the wider community and make a real difference to their local environment.
