Which workshops do you have on offer and how do I make a booking?

Will we visit the WWF Experience as part of our workshop?
Each workshop starts with a journey of discovery through our fantastic interactive exhibition - the WWF Experience - themed around wildlife, rivers, oceans and forests, where pupils can find out about the wonders of the natural world through our fun, tailor-made quizzes.

How long does each workshop last?
Each workshops lasts for two hours. Please allow some extra time for arrival and departure and arrange transport accordingly so that children can spend a full two hours in the Learning Zone.

When are workshops offered?
We offer workshops on Tuesdays from 10am-12pm and 1- 3pm and on Thursdays and Fridays we offer a morning session from 10am -12pm. We can alter these timings slightly to fit in with your school day and travel arrangements. Please contact us to discuss timings.

How many children can attend each workshop?
We can accommodate 32 children (with some flexibility) in the Learning Zone and can only run one workshop at a time. workshops cannot be run simultaneously. If you would like to book in two classes in one day, one class can come in the morning, and the other class in the afternoon.

What is the required ratio of adults to children?
We require one adult for every six children in school years 1 to 3, one adult for every ten children in school years 4 to 6.

Do I have to make a booking before we come to The Living Planet Centre?
Yes, it is necessary for you to make an advanced booking for a school visit. Please visit our online booking form to check availability or contact us.

How can I book a visit?
You can book through our online booking form, via e-mail or by calling us on 01483 412221. We are generally fully booked one term ahead so please make sure you leave sufficient time to plan your visit.

What is the cost of the workshops at the Living Planet Centre?
All WWF workshops are free of charge but we welcome a suggested donation from £2 per child. If you wish to make a donation, cheques can be made payable to WWF-UK and handed in to the staff running the workshop.

How do I cancel my booking?
Please let us know as soon as possible if you need to cancel your booking so that another school has the opportunity to book the workshop slot. To cancel, you can e-mail us or call us on 01483 412221.

Is it possible to arrange a free self-guided visit?
If you are not attending a workshop but would still like to visit the WWF Experience, we can offer you a fun, interactive quiz to enable you to make the most of your trip. The Living Planet Centre is open from Monday-Friday 9am -5pm. Please do let us know when you are planning to visit so that we are ready to welcome you. If you come to the LPC without letting us know, the WWF Experience may be in use by another school group.

Is there a car park at the LPC?
Yes, there is a car park located directly underneath the Living Planet Centre and the ‘Victoria Way’ and ‘Shoppers’ car parks are located nearby. These are all operated by Woking Borough Council and they do charge. Coaches and mini buses can drop passengers off at the LPC drop-off point on Brewery Road. Please note all car parks in Woking have a headroom of 2.1m.

Is the Living Planet Centre wheelchair accessible?
The WWF Experience and all other areas of the Living Planet Centre are accessible by level access or by lift. The four zones in the WWF Experience and the Learning Zone are wheelchair accessible but we regret that the zones are not too restricted by accessibility scooter. Assistance dogs are allowed in the Living Planet Centre.

Is there storage space for our coats and bags?
Yes, we have open lockers next to the Learning Zone, which are not accessible for the wider public. Teachers are responsible for their own valuables.

Can we have lunch at the Living Planet Centre?
We do not have a cafe or lunch room at the Living Planet Centre. School groups can eat a packed lunch in the Learning Zone at the start or end of their session, subject to the use of the room for other workshops. Please let us know before the workshop if you would like to eat lunch in the classroom. Self-guided groups will not be able to eat at the LPC.

Are there any teachers' packs available?
Ahead of your visit we will e-mail you a teachers’ pack which includes:

Is there a WWF shop?
We don't have a WWF shop on site but please do visit our online shop. If children would like to bring some money to make a donation, there are panda collecting tins in the reception area.

Can I visit in advance of the school trip?
Yes we encourage teachers to visit the Living Planet Centre ahead of the school trip. Please contact us to arrange a convenient time.
