Responding today (Wed 6 May) to the UK Committee on Climate Change (CCC) letter of advice to the Scottish Government on principles for a resilient recovery from coronavirus, Fabrice Leveque Climate and Energy Policy Manager at WWF Scotland said:

"The advice given to the Scottish Government today by its independent advisors makes clear that as we start to rebuild from the COVID-19 crisis climate policy can and should play a core part, with clear economic, social, and environmental benefits from immediate action. Whilst it's of course right the priority just now  is dealing with the health emergency, it's important that we embed an equitable low-carbon transition in our recovery plans. The CCC is right to say that early investment in upgrading homes, green infrastructure like tree planting and peatland restoration, along with improved walking and cycling, can boost the recovery whilst setting us on a path to a cleaner, healthier and fairer future."
