Climate Guide for Asset Owners - Aligning Investment Portfolios with the Paris Agreement

This is a guide for asset owners to show how they can align their investments with the objectives of the Paris Climate Change Agreement.

Climate change is a risk. A financial risk. It has been described as ‘the tragedy of the horizon’ by Mark Carney, Chairman of the G20 Financial Stability Board and Governor of the Bank of England, because it imposes a cost on future generations that the current one has no proper incentive to fix. However, the transition to a low carbon economy also offers significant investment opportunities.

WWF’s view is that aiming to align investments with the Paris Agreement – by taking action in line with the recommendations in this Guide – will contribute to investing in the best interests of members and beneficiaries, and will therefore fulfil asset owners’ fiduciary duties.
