Development of social and environmental safeguards in Brazil

This short factsheet explains how the state of Acre in the Brazilian Amazon is developing and implementing a state-wide system of social and environmental safeguards for its REDD+ and ecosystem services approach.

It details progress, challenges and lessons that could be relevant to other subnational and national governments designing Safeguard Information Systems. WWF’s contribution to this safeguards process has been supported by the Sky Rainforest Rescue initiative, which is a partnership between WWF, Sky and the Acre state government.

WWF’s REDD+ Inspiring Practices are short case studies designed to capture REDD+ lessons learned so that they can help us learn and improve the way we do REDD+.
