EMPOWERING YOUNG PEOPLE TO HELP PROTECT OUR PLANET

WWF have partnered with Tes to create a new free CPD course for primary teachers and leaders who want to put education for sustainable development (ESD) at the heart of their school and inspire a new generation of sustainability champions.

‘Education for Sustainable Development’ is an online programme for educators who want to put ESD at the heart of their school. Using text and videos and providing links to additional teaching resources and materials, this free, online professional development course will help you to further your understanding of ESD and look at how you can make ESD a cornerstone of your teaching and school ethos. The course aims to help educators:

  • Develop a better understanding of ESD and why sustainability is an important part of teaching and learning;
  • Explore ways of developing a whole school approach to ESD;
  • Provide strategies, activities and ideas to develop ESD in your school; and
  • To share examples of ESD practice in primary schools.

Today, our planet is facing some of the biggest environmental threats it has ever faced.  It’s vital that we work with schools and educators to inspire the next generation to take the lead in championing sustainably and understanding the solutions we can put in place to make a difference.

Who should enrol on this course?

This short, free professional development course is intended for primary school teachers and leaders who want to develop a whole school approach to ESD and explore ways of actively engaging their pupils in the process.
