Each year we work with partners who help us to spread the word about Earth Hour and make the global event bigger and better than the last. We couldn't make it through Earth Hour 2017 without acknowledging the support we've had from our amazing partners and supporters.
Ambassador Theatre Group
Ambassador Theatre Group will be celebrating Earth Hour by switching off all non-essential lights in all its UK and US theatres and encouraging its customers to sign up. ATG's Chief Executive, said:
"We are proud to take part in WWF's Earth Hour for a fifth consecutive year. This important environmental initiative has become something of an annual event on the ATG calendar and our employees and environmental ambassadors remain committed to raising awareness of climate change through customer engagement within our theatres."
Alliance of Religions and Conservation (ARC)
The ARC helped us to facilitate a switch off in churches up and down the nation, and also produced a reflection pack for WWF-UK to support churches and other places of worship wishing to take part in Earth Hour
Forestry Commission England is encouraging everyone to switch off their lights for WWF’s Earth Hour and experience the forests after dark. They've lined up a number of twilight events at forest locations across the country on 25th March, allowing all ages to step outside in support for our planet. These include stargazing walks, glow painting, night time wildlife spotting and lantern making. They also have a stargazing guide on their website that can be downloaded and used anywhere.
30 Marriott hotels nationwide are switching off and the Heathrow Marriott will be having a candlelit dinner and 'glow show' - a dance with glow sticks!
HSBC have transformed their ATM's in the run up to Earth Hour with our ad, and have also given the campaign a shout out on their in-branch radio.
National Union of Students (NUS)
NUS have been promoting Earth Hour to their member unions and engaging students to make sure they switch off. WWF-UK also held a competition in partnership with the NUS, asking students to design an inspirational campus-wide or community event for Earth Hour. Three lucky winners received funding to host their events - we can't wait to see the results!
People's Postcode Lottery
Our partnership with People’s Postcode Lottery helps protect amazing wildlife both near and far, from rhinos in Kenya to whale sharks in UK oceans. To date, players of People’s Postcode Lottery have raised £5.8 million for WWF’s conservation work across the UK and East Africa, including the work we do each year for Earth Hour.
Sky have produced a brilliant advert for Earth Hour that has been aired on their channels to reach out to their audience.
Sustainable Restaurants Association (SRA)
SRA restaurants across the UK are hosting candlelit dinners for Earth Hour, and all are engaging with the SRA energy campaign to reduce energy use or switch to green energy providers.
