Commenting on the parliamentary vote in favour of expanding Heathrow Airport, WWF Head of Climate & Energy Gareth Redmond-King said:

“Climate change is a huge threat to people and nature across the world and the UK must take action now to limit its impacts. By voting to expand Heathrow, the country’s largest single source of carbon emissions, MPs have made it much more difficult to achieve our international climate commitments and further weakened the UK’s claim to be a green leader. The UK Government’s commitment to creating a low carbon economy is right, but it’s high time policy decisions caught up with the rhetoric.”
