What to do in a climate emergency
Our planet has warmed by 1ºC over the last century. Climate change is wreaking havoc on our wildlife and habitats, and is putting people’s lives and homes at risk. We're calling on the government to declare a climate emergency.
We are facing a climate emergency, and we need to act accordingly. More and more people are calling for the UK government to take stronger action on climate change.
We've set out the immediate actions the Prime Minister needs to take to mobilise departments of the UK government to put Britain on a path to a very rapid transition in which we end our contribution to climate change. This means getting to net zero emissions as quickly as possible – by 2045 at the latest. It can and should be done in a way that creates high quality jobs, reduces inequality and helps communities to thrive.
We are running out of time. We are the last generation with the power to avert climate breakdown - the time to act must be now!
