Commenting on  findings that almost three-quarters of UK beaches are littered with tiny plastic pellets - Alec Taylor, Marine Programme Manager at WWF-UK said:

“The startling amount of plastics found on UK shores is the clearest indicator of the shocking impact of marine litter on marine ecosystems. Plastic rubbish breaks down or is often mistaken for food by many of the UK’s most loved  marine species. The best solution is prevention, for example by banning the production of micro plastics in all forms and working towards a fully circular economy where our seas don’t end up as the dumping ground for our disposable society.”
