15,000 Steps in October Facebook challenge is now over.

This sounds great, how do I sign up?

Registration for this challenge is closed.

How do I collect donations?

When you join the Facebook Group, you will be provided with a link to register and create a fundraising page. You can either set up a Facebook fundraising page or a Just Giving fundraising page.

Whatā€™s a good fundraising target?

Weā€™re encouraging everyone to raise as much as they can. Ā£100 is a great starting target.

Whatever your target, if you start to near to near it, donā€™t stop and aim even higher!

Iā€™m worried I wonā€™t get any donations

Hereā€™s our top fundraising tip! Keep your friends and family updated with your challenge - include photos of you clocking up your steps on your fundraiser and they'll donate once they see what you're doing. It's great to share what's motivated you to take on the challenge too.

How do we track our steps?

Thereā€™re some good free apps such as Strava or RunKeeper, or most phones have a step tracker too in the ā€˜healthā€™ app. The most important thing is that you post updates on your fundraising page, so your friends and family see how hard you're pushing yourself and how you're getting along! Weā€™ve also got a digital day tracker available in the Facebook group.

What happens if I donā€™t finish 15,000 steps each day?

Don't worry too much about not completing 15,000 steps each day, you can always make up extra distance at a time that's more convenient. The most important thing is taking part and fundraising. Remember, we're all here to support you through your challenge. Youā€™ve got this!

Why is there a Facebook group?

The Facebook group is a fantastic way to connect with other people doing the challenge. You can swap fundraising or training tips and share photos of your challenge. Plus, everyone in the group will help support you while youā€™re doing your steps.

Iā€™ve not seen this way of fundraising before ā€“ why are you doing it like this?

Hosting a fundraising challenge in aid of WWF via Facebook is a new and exciting way to get people interested in our mission. We look forward to cheering you all on!

Iā€™m not sure I can do 15,000 steps a day, can I still take part?

Of course! The challenge is open to everyone, of all ages and abilities ā€“ take part in a way that works for you, whether that means lessening the steps target or taking part in a different way e.g. virtually.

Why can't I setup a Facebook Fundraising page?

As of 1st September, META announced a new partnership with PayPal Giving Fund. As a result of the changes, from the 1st September until 16th September, anyone who has never donated to FB or set up a fundraising page cannot. This does not affect anyone who has donated via FB before or has set up a fundraising page before. From the 16th September, you will again be able to make donations on Facebook. But don't worry, instead when you register you can opt to set up a Just Giving fundraising page.

When will my fundraising page close?

All Facebook Fundraising pages will close on October 31st. There is no way to change this. If you would like a fundraising page open for longer, please set up a Just Giving fundraising page instead. Just Giving fundraising pages are scheduled to close on 15th November.
