We share our planet with thousands of other species, from elephants to algae. And we need them as much as they need us.

Our latest health-check on the natural world, the 2010 Living Planet Report, should make everyone stop and consider the natural resources the world provides us with – from air, water and food to minerals and raw materials – and how we really shouldn’t take any of it for granted. It's time to rethink our relationship with the natural world...

As one of the baby boomers, our children will want to know what active steps we have taken to try to start to alleviate the position. As for our grandchildren, will they even have a stable world to live in when the earth's resources are used up?
