Decisive action needed to cut emissions and prepare for climate impacts, says WWF

Reacting to the CCC’s progress report, Aoife Blanchard, senior climate policy advisor at WWF, said:

“This unprecedented heatwave is a stark reminder that climate change is hitting people, wildlife and nature across the UK. Bringing down our emissions is the only way to stop temperatures from rising so we need to act fast.

“The good news is that the changes needed to unlock a safer future can also save us money in the here and now - rolling out EVs, heat pumps, solar panels and time-of-use tariffs could help UK households save £1,200 a year. Government must build on the progress made and act decisively to accelerate emissions cuts and prepare for the climate impacts that can't be avoided, by setting an ambitious 7th Carbon Budget and using nature as our best ally to protect people from extreme weather."
