Back again for 2025 - walk, jog or run the Lake District Challenge and take on England's finest countryside at your pace. Test yourself on a fantastic Ultra Challenge suitable for all experience levels and you'll get the best support and hospitality all the way.

Our Challenge Base Camp is in Kendal. From there it's a 100km anticlockwise loop taking in a couple of tough hills, Ambleside, a half way point by Lake Windermere, forests, and nature reserves with some stunning views en route, before a huge welcome and celebration back at Base Camp after a momentous journey. Push yourself further 100km full Challenge with half and quarter options also available.

The route and distance options:

Full (Continuous or 2-day) Challenge (100km) – Kendal to Kendal loop
1st 1/2 Challenge (50km) – Kendal to Lakeside, Windermere
2nd 1/2 Challenge (50km) – Lakeside, Windermere to Kendal
1st 1/4 Challenge (29km) – Kendal to Ambleside
The Ambleside 10 (10km) – Ambleside loop
Lakes Marathon - NEW! (42km) - Kendal to Ambleside


Registration fees and sponsorship targets: 

Charity sponsorship - pay a small registration fee and do lots of fundraising  
Full Challenge (100km) - £50 registration fee + £575 in fundraising
Half Challenge (50km) - £40 registration fee + £375 in fundraising
Quarter Challenge (29km) - £30 registration fee + £275 in fundraising
10km Challenge - £20 registration fee + £100 in fundraising

Mixed Funding - pay a higher contribution to the cost of your place and fundraise less
Full Challenge (100km) - £110 registration fee + £330 in fundraising
Half Challenge (50km) - £75 registration fee + £225 in fundraising
Quarter Challenge (29km) - £50 registration fee + £150 in fundraising
10km Challenge - £22.50 registration fee + £70 in fundraising

Own Place Charity Fundraising - pay for your place and fundraise whatever you can:

Full Challenge (106km) - £199 fee + fundraise what you can 
Half Challenge (54km) - £139 fee + fundraise what you can 
Quarter Challenge (25km) - £89 fee + fundraise what you can 

10 M Challenge - £39 fee + fundraise what you can 

For Charity and Mixed Funding options, you will need to raise 50% of your fundraising target at least three weeks before the event in order to confirm your place on the day.
