Our Benefits

We’ll make sure you get all the support you need to thrive in our collaborative community of inspirational people doing extraordinary things.

Everyone’s role here at WWF is important in helping us to achieve our mission, whether you’re working at a laptop, getting your claws stuck into a campaign, or leaping into action out in the field. We’ll make sure you get all the support you need to thrive in our collaborative community of incredible people doing extraordinary things.

Our home

You’ll find around 370 of us based in Woking, Edinburgh and Cardiff. Our UK head office in Surrey – the Living Planet Centre – is one of the greenest buildings in the UK. Here you’ll hot-desk among trees and gardens, hearing birdsong and using the latest technologies to keep in touch with our global colleagues.

Our community

Our famous panda logo has long been one of the most recognised and respected symbols of conservation and environmental protection. Our caring approach extends to the way we look after our own community. We encourage everyone to ‘walk the talk’ in the fight for our world and offer a range of activities that support this such as Yoga and Gardening Club. If you fancy doing something we don’t offer yet, we encourage you to start your own club!

Flexible working

We want you to bring your best self to work, so we encourage a healthy lifestyle and work-life balance. We offer a range of flexible working options, including working part-time, variable start and finishing times or working from home. We always consider the practicality of such requests against the backdrop of the needs of WWF, team commitments and service delivery.

Annual leave

Saving the planet takes dedication and commitment, so you’ll need a break to recharge. We offer a generous holiday allowance and encourage all our employees to switch off and unplug. You’ll be entitled to 25 days’ annual leave, three days of which are to be taken when WWF-UK offices are closed in December, as well as the eight bank holidays (pro rata for part-time/fixed term contracts). Annual leave entitlement increases by an extra day per full year of service, up to 30 days a year.

WWF pension

We offer a very generous pension to help you save for your retirement. You’ll automatically be enrolled into our pension scheme if you are eligible. You don’t have to pay anything into the scheme, and we’ll contribute 7.5% of your basic salary. But if you contribute 2.5% or more, we’ll increase our contribution to 10%. You can make your contributions via salary sacrifice or by net monthly salary deductions.

Group Life Assurance

We have a Life Assurance scheme in place giving a death-in-service benefit of three times your basic salary to your nominated beneficiary or your estate.

Maternity and adoption leave and pay

We offer an enhanced maternity and adoption pay package.Employees with 26 weeks’ service, or more than 15 weeks before the expected week of the child’s birth, are entitled to the first six weeks at full pay and the subsequent 33 weeks at 30% of current basic pay plus statutory maternity pay.

Paternity leave

We offer an enhanced paternity pay package, including full pay for the two weeks of paternity leave.

Health and wellbeing

Your health and wellbeing are of great importance to us. We’ll help to support you in your responsibility for your own health and well-being through annual eye-care checks and seasonal flu jabs, as well as regular wellbeing talks and activities. We also provide occupational health assistance, we have supportive occupational sick pay, and you’ll be able to attend a wealth of topical talks to inspire you and help you feel great about what you do here.

Cycle to Work scheme

To encourage you to cycle to and from work, we have a Cycle to Work scheme which allows you to make savings on the purchase cost of a bike and safety equipment. This also includes a range of electric cycles. We also have a secure lock-up for your bikes, showers and a drying room for your clothes.

Interest-free annual season ticket loan

We understand that commuting can be costly, so from day one you can apply for an annual season ticket loan for any train, bus or underground train journey from your home to your place of work. We’ll arrange for you to pay this back over 10 months through deductions from your salary.

Professional annual membership

We’re keen for you to hold membership of any relevant professional bodies, where this is required for your role, either as part of a professional qualification or where there is a clear work-related benefit. We’ll be happy to pay for your membership.

Tax-free childcare

The Childcare Voucher Scheme has now been replaced by the new government Tax-Free Childcare Account. The government will top up payments you make in to your HMRC account.

Employee Assistance Scheme

We have a free, confidential telephone service which is available 24 hours a day, seven days per week. This ensures you get support and advice on legal, financial, consumer rights and domestic situations, as well as confidential counselling services.

Income Protection Insurance Scheme

Loss of income because of serious illness, or injury, is a matter of extreme concern.  Our income protection insurance is designed to provide protection for employees who are unfortunate enough to be ill for an extended period.

Payroll Giving Scheme

There’s a wonderfully easy way for you to give more while paying less, for a basic rate tax-payer every pound given only costs you 80 pence – even less for higher rate taxpayers.

Sabbatical

After 5 years’ service, if you’re eligible, you can apply for a sabbatical of between 3 and 12 months. We believe this is beneficial for you to enhance your knowledge, skills and experience and bring this back into the organisation.

Training course sponsorship & study leave

We actively support your personal learning and development. In addition to the regular in-house training courses you can attend, we will consider supporting your professional development by funding/part-funding your study for a relevant qualification. We also offer up to five days study leave per year and potentially pay for any exam days.
