SCOTTISH GOVERNMENT BUDGET – WWF Scotland comment
Responding to the Scottish Government budget [1] announced today (Tues 13 Jan) Claire Daly, Head of Policy and Advocacy at WWF Scotland said:
“This Budget edges forward when Scotland needs a leap.
“Tripling funding for nature restoration and investing in skills for nature-friendly farming are steps in the right direction, yet without clear delivery plans and long-term support, these are hollow promises. Likewise, the renewed commitment to carbon-free heating is encouraging, but we need urgent clarity on how and when this will be rolled out. Scotland can’t afford warm words; we need real action.”
“The Scottish Government still has an opportunity to pivot toward a fairer, more ambitious path that protects people, restores nature, and strengthens Scotland’s climate resilience. The next Parliament must commit to policies and investment to provide certainty for the generations to come.”
