Government finally waking up to threat of climate change to food supply, says WWF

Sofia Parente, Head of Supply Chains Policy at WWF, said: “The government is finally waking up to the threat that climate change and nature loss pose to our food supply, but awareness alone is no longer enough. Food and farming businesses across the UK have experienced first-hand the impacts of increasingly intense and unpredictable weather, which is disrupting harvests, reducing agricultural productivity and increasing pressure across food supply chains. But resilience cannot simply mean bouncing back from shocks. We must protect and restore nature while cutting emissions, and invest in food security, rural livelihoods and resilient supply chains."
