WWF reaction to the Independent Water Commission’s Final Report

Commenting on the Independent Water Commission’s Final Report, Kate Norgrove, Executive Director of Advocacy and Campaigns at WWF said:

"WWF welcomes the Cunliffe review. It's a comprehensive analysis that shows conclusively that there is much more that government and others should do to improve the state of rivers and other freshwater habitats.

The UK Government’s firm action on sewage pollution is welcome, as well as announcements on improving agricultural pollution regulations and an uplift in advice-led farm inspections. We now need the Government to focus on tackling the root causes of pollution, rather than end-of-pipe solutions, to fulfil their promise to restore our waters to good health.”
