Half measures on the environment are unaffordable, says WWF
Rick Parfett, Head of Climate Policy at WWF said:
“The Chancellor may have abolished bingo duty, but on climate this was sadly not a full house.
There are common-sense moves to reduce electricity bills and freeze rail fares, which put pounds in pockets while protecting the planet. Ending new oil and gas licenses, which do nothing to reduce bills or increase our energy security, is also welcome.
But cutting the UK’s biggest insulation scheme, which ensures families can stay warm without breaking the bank, is short-sighted.
The environment and cost of living crises are still biting hard. If we are to protect our future from economic shocks, grow the economy and deliver for working people, half measures are unaffordable."
