Terms and Conditions for free supply and installation of swift boxes on homes in Leicester

Leicester City Council is supplying and installing swift boxes on homes within Leicester paid for by Leicester City Council and WWF-UK with funding from AirWick.

  • To apply for installation of a free swift box, complete the contact form through the WWF-UK Facebook or Instagram advert.
  • You must be over 18 and have the property owner’s permission before applying.
  • Your details will be collected by WWF-UK and shared with Leicester City Council who will contact you directly via email to arrange a property visit and installation of a swift box if housing requirements are met. 
  • Supply and installation of a swift box is subject to availability and property suitability. 
  • A total of 60 swift boxes are available.
  • Supply and installation of a swift box is subject to property suitability. Leicester City Council will assess the suitability of a property which must meet the following criteria:
    • The property must be within Leicester.
    • Location of swift box must be a minimum of 4.5 metres above ground level.
    • Location of swift box must ideally be northwest or northeast facing under deep eaves, on gables and on high walls. Location may be south facing but only if shaded from glare of sun.
    • Location of swift box must be safe from potential attack by squirrels, crows and magpies (i.e. no adjacent perches or creeping plants).
    • Location of swift box must have uncluttered adjacent airspace allowing for easy flight access.
    • Location of swift box must not be subject to disturbance including window cleaning or maintenance work.
  • Leicester City Council is fully responsible for assessing the suitability of properties, contacting successful applicants, supplying swift boxes and installing swift boxes. 
  • By submitting your application, you release WWF-UK from any and all liability associated with this giveaway.
  • By submitting your application, you release Facebook from any and all liability associated with this giveaway. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with Facebook.
  • Any personal information collected by WWF-UK in connection with this giveaway will be used in accordance with WWF-UK’s Privacy Policy and will be passed to Leicester City Council as set out in these T&Cs.
