The boldest actions need to come from our leaders. We already know the solutions to the climate crisis: stronger policies to cut emissions, clean energy, restoring nature, and ending deforestation. What we need now is the right people investing money, effort, and commitment to urgently scale the solutions to build a safer, more resilient future for us all.

But this doesn't mean our individual actions aren’t important. Every positive choice builds momentum for bigger shifts towards a sustainable future. Here are five ways you can help tackle climate change.

1. Use your voice

We are the first generation to know we’re damaging the planet, but we are also the generation that know the solutions. That’s why speaking up matters.

Voting is one of the most powerful ways to make yourself heard. When you have the opportunity, consider voting for someone who represents your views and who will make nature and climate a priority.

There are other ways we can all use our voices to put climate action higher on the agenda and hold our leaders to account. This could include writing to a local MP, attending local council or constituency meetings, or supporting campaigns for change.

Change can and does happen. In June 2026, after six years of pressure, we finally saw the UK government announce a new law that will help protect forests from deforestation. This is a major win and one that couldn’t have been done without the voices and help of over 60,000 of you.

Find out who your leaders are and hear from our ambassador Cel Spellman who shares practical tips on how to talk to your MP.

2. Knowledge is power

There is a lot of misinformation out there about climate change. So, get yourself clued up on the latest science and be sure you’re reading reliable sources. The more you know, the better. It leaves you equipped to have conversations with your friends, family, colleagues and people in your community, like your MP. To get started, you could:

  • Sign up to our email newsletter to stay in the loop on all things nature, climate and news.
  • Listen to our podcast Call of the Wild hosted by WWF ambassador Cel Spellman as he talks to celebs and experts to discover how we can all make a difference to bring our world back to life.

3. Make your money talk

We may be working hard to reduce our footprint, but in the background, where we spend, save and invest our money could be funding things that harm our planet.

Being intentional with your money can make a huge difference. You could consider:

  • Switching to a greener bank.
  • Speaking to your employer about your workplace pension and asking if it is invested in a sustainable fund.
  • Buying from sustainable brands, choosing better quality products and buying second-hand items or repairing the things you already own.

When we make these choices, companies see what people want. If enough of us do it, businesses are more likely to act in a better and more sustainable way.

4. Know your footprint

Find out where and how you’re making the biggest impact on the environment. To get started, use our footprint calculator to measure your impact. The calculator looks at four key areas - your home, food, travel and consumption and how this impacts the planet.

Once you have your footprint, you can find ways to reduce it on our My Footprint app. Here, you will discover challenges and tips to help you on your journey and keep you motivated to make sustainable choices where you can.

Share it with your friends, family and community to have a greater impact.

5. Support how you can

Our amazing supporters are helping us in different ways to restore nature and tackle the climate crisis.

  • By donating to our Climate Recovery Fund, every pound goes directly towards forward-thinking projects on the four areas where we can collectively have the greatest impact. That's the Amazon, polar regions, forests, and influencing UK government policy.
  • We also have some fun and unique ways you can get involved in fundraising. Take part in one of our challenge events, run a marathon or organise a local bake sale.
  • You could also think about volunteering your time to become a Walrus from Space detective. Help us from home by searching satellite images and spot walrus from space. You’ll contribute to vital conservation research and help us learn more about this incredible species and how climate change is impacting them.
