We depend on nature and a stable climate for our survival, from the air we breathe to the food we eat. But right now, we are witnessing devastating changes to our climate, and nature is in freefall.
We know solutions already exist, but we urgently need to scale-up these efforts to create a better world where people and wildlife thrive.
Solution
In 2020, WWF joined forces with HSBC, WRI and more than 50 local partners around the world to launch a five-year philanthropic collaboration: the Climate Solutions Partnership.
By bringing together the expertise of the finance sector, NGOs and industry coalitions, the partnership aimed to address some of the most urgent climate and nature challenges of our time. It focused on unlocking investment, supporting policy change and scaling practical solutions across three priority areas: energy transition, nature-based solutions and sustainable finance.
While the Climate Solutions Partnership has concluded, key initiatives are continuing under our new philanthropic partnership with HSBC, including the Environmental Crimes Financial Toolkit and Asia Sustainable Palm Oil Links (ASPOL).

We developed an online platform intended to strengthen the ability of financial institutions to detect operations and monitor risks linked to environmental crimes. This initiative continues in the new partnership.

More Asia Sustainable Palm Oil Links (ASPOL)
Palm oil contributes substantially to many local and national economies, especially in southeast Asia, yet it can also drive the destruction of nature. We are working to help remove deforestation from palm oil supply chains and increase sustainable production and consumption of RSPO certified sustainable palm oil in Asia. This initiative continues in our new phase of partnership with HSBC.

We backed projects that help protect and restore biodiversity, tackle climate change and enhance human wellbeing, demonstrating how nature-based solutions can be deployed at scale and be highly attractive to investors.

Asia accounts for almost half of global energy demand. A successful energy transition from fossil fuels to renewables in this region is therefore critical to tackling climate change. Our projects in China, India, Indonesia and Vietnam will help shift the energy sector towards renewables, and scale efficiency initiatives in key sectors such as healthcare, textiles and apparel. While these initiatives concluded in 2025, WWF offices across Asia continue to drive this work forward at country level. We welcome enquiries from potential partners and donors who want to help scale locally-led solutions for climate and nature.

The Climate Solutions Partnership (2020 – 2025) laid a strong foundation for systemic change in how climate and nature solutions are financed and implemented.
We’re incredibly proud of what we achieved together – from scaling climate innovation ventures and nature-based solutions, to reducing deforestation in palm oil supply chains and supporting the transition to renewable energy in Asia.
The climate and nature crisis demands collaboration at every level. The Climate Solutions Partnership showed that when businesses, communities and conservation organisations come together with a shared commitment, we can help drive the lasting, systemic change our world urgently needs.
