The panda and the penguin unite

WWF and Penguin Random House have united to create a book of small acts to save our world.

Ahead of this year’s Earth Hour on Saturday 24 March 2018 at 8.30pm, we’ve announced an exciting new collaboration with book publishers Penguin Random House. In what is probably the most thrilling pairing of two iconic brands and two well loved animals, we will be creating a book together that is a simple guide to greener living.

This new book will guide readers through small everyday changes that they can easily make to have a big impact on the planet – much like the promise for the planet you have all been making for Earth Hour this year!

It will include short chapters on things like how to eat and shop for more sustainable food, reduce plastic waste, shop for more ethical clothing, lower energy consumption and manage your travel footprint. The book will draw on decades of work and scientific research conducted by leading experts at WWF.

It is due for publication in September 2018, in hardback and ebook, so watch this space!

Georgie Bridge, director of brand at WWF, says:“We’re thrilled to be bringing the Panda and the Penguin together for this new book. This Earth Hour we’re inspiring people to make a promise for the planet – to make small changes in their lives that will have a positive effect on the environment. So it’s the perfect time to unite two such iconic brands to create something that can empower people to make a difference."

Ajda Vucicevic, senior editor at Century, says: “Last year’s Blue Planet series was a watershed moment in public awareness about the threats to our environment. We know the time is now to act before it’s too late, which is why we are delighted to be collaborating with the world’s leading conservation organisation WWF. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when the problems facing us seem so big, but this book shows that every small act can make a difference. It brilliantly brings to light what we can all do, and I know will empower people everywhere to take positive action.”
