How we're making Great Wild Walks sustainable

WWF is committed to leading by example in reducing the environmental impact of our events and we know that many participants share the same goal. Our aim for our Great Wild Walks is to provide everyone an amazing experience in nature, in the most sustainable way possible. We're looking at every step of the process; from planning, to choosing local suppliers and on the day logistics, to make sure sustainable event delivery is a top priority.

Each Great Wild Walk event has it's own carbon tracker. This tracks everything that goes into organising the event, from staff travel, the type of vehicles used to transport equipment, the food served on location, the distance travelled by local suppliers and even waste management! By tracking the carbon emissions for our events, we can use these to make future events even greener.

How you can help make Great Wild Walks green

We’re working hard to make Great Wild Walks as green as possible, but we need your help too! Here are our top tips.

Travelling to your Great Wild Walk
We've chosen our event locations so they're close to public transport to help you plan an environmentally friendly journey. If you are driving, could you car share with friends and family who are also taking part?

Bring a reusable bottle and coffee cup
Our event sites are single use plastic free. You’ll be able to top up your water bottle on site.

Have a plant-based lunch
There will be food available to purchase at our events, and it's a great time to try a vegetarian or vegan meal!

Leave no trace
Please use the designated rubbish and recycling points at the event. Not sure which bin to use? Ask one of our friendly volunteers who will be happy to help.
