In this CPD (Continuous Professional Development) session you will learn practical tips for engaging students with the natural world, through cross curricular activities, and how to take part in the Schools for Nature campaign, taking action to tackle the threats our natural world face. (Please note this was a live webinar and the PowerPoint Slides are now available to read).

Title: Exploring Our Wild Isles: Schools for Nature
Audience: Teachers and educators of primary or secondary aged students

The UK is sadly one of the most nature depleted countries in the world – when ranking biodiversity, UK is actually in the bottom 10% of all countries. More than one in seven native species face extinction and more than 40% are in decline.

School grounds give students and teachers the opportunity to explore local wildlife and allow students to connect with their local nature, but schools can also play a huge role in helping local wildlife thrive. Learn how you and your students can give local wildlife a helping hand and show your local community and the world how you are stepping up for nature.

Wild Isles

Wild Isles is a new landmark natural history series, co-produced by WWF and RSPB, that will reveal a previously unseen wild side of the UK – and show why our isles are so important globally for nature.  Presented by WWF Ambassador and celebrated naturalist, Sir David Attenborough, the series will explore and celebrate the UK’s four key habitats – grasslands, woodlands, freshwater, and marine.

Schools For Nature

RSPB, WWF and many other nature organisations are united in calling for schools to get involved in a new campaign that will celebrate and strengthen the role of schools in protecting and restoring UK nature. Schools for Nature is a month long celebration of schools, set to become an annual event, when school action for nature will be amplified, celebrated and rewarded and used to inspire others.
